Our roofs are designed and calculated to withstand a snow load of up to 50kg/m2 which is the equivalent of around 3 feet of snow, far more snow than most roofs will ever experience.
The roof can be one of several designs – for example, one option is a Pent design with a slight slope to channel water to the rear of the building.
The roof construction will be from 150mm SIPs, which provide a strong and well insulated roof but allow the structural supports to be hidden within the roof structure. This leaves a smooth and even ceiling surface, but provides sufficient strength to create large room spans. The insulated panels are framed on the external edges with constructional grade timbers to provide a solid mounting point for the attachment of fascias and gutters.
The U value of the finished roof will be 0.17 which exceeds the requirements of the building regulations.
The roof may be covered with a bonded Firestone EPDM single piece membrane to form a seamless durable weatherproof layer.
Firestone RubberCover EPDM membranes offer unmatched resistance to ozone, UV radiation and high or low temperatures.
The membrane will be fully bonded over the entire roof deck using a cold applied adhesive to ensure that the rover cover is always fully adhered to the deck, resisting tucking, tearing and creeping. Once installed the roof cover requires no or very little maintenance, and is guaranteed to stay completely water tight for 20 years.
An estimated working life in the UK of 50 years +
The membrane is continued over the roof edges and finished with the fascia boards to provide a robust and attractive seal.
